A striking Armillary Sundial by Swedish makers A.B. Aronsson & Söner c.1920
The sundial consists of iron construction upon a triangular shaped copper stand decorated by depictions of the Zodiac.
It is notably engraved to either side with the makers name “AB ARONSSON & SÖNER” to the front and “MADE IN SWEDEN” to the back.
The sweeping delicate form of the Armillary holds a brass hour band inside the celestial equator ring. Striking through the centre is a verdigris patinated arrow with stylised feather and point.
The Armillary is paired with an elegant Classical Architectural column crowned with the Greek Ionic Capital with it's distinctive volutes. The volute is a spiral, scroll-like ornament that forms the basis of the style of the Ionic order.
The piece would make a wonderful statement, or focal piece in your garden and would equally look splendid as an interior architectural work of art.
