A large striking and beautifully polychromed three-legged Italian candlestick c.1880. This magical piece is a real statement. It’s body is studded with little naive mirrors. It is flamboyant and baroque in feeling. Wooden with gesso, gilding and multicoloured polychrome. The candlestick has a great patina and numerous historical repairs and losses that don’t take away, but add to its ‘perfect imperfect’ look.
